The Burlington Teen Tour Band (BTTB) has remained Canada’s Musical Ambassadors and the Pride of Burlington since 1947, and yes this June we will be hosting our 70th Anniversary Celebration. And we know that this year’s reunion will be extra-special for our alumni, great city, province and country.
During the Sound of Music Festival weekend (June 16-18), the Band’s Alumni Committee expects that well over 500 alumni, friends and supporters to make it out to our special reunion. We even hope to set a World Record for having the largest marching band during this year’s Sound of Music Parade.
We will be hosting several special events to mark our 70th Anniversary Celebration: A Band Practice, a Saturday Night Celebration at Central Arena, and, along with participation in the Parade, our alumni will perform alongside the current Burlington Teen Tour Band at a Sunday Night Concert at the Music Centre.
“What makes the 70th Anniversary Celebration special is that we have generations of families and friends connected together who will cherish this occasion for a long, long time,” says Robert Webb, the former Director of the BTTB and Chair of the Anniversary Committee. “We want to give all former members and supporters a chance to reconnect with old friends, make new ones and share the memories of the time they spent together in the Band.”
If you are a BTTB alumnus, this is a weekend you won’t want to miss. We need everyone to come home for this huge event, that you soon won’t forget. This will be the opportunity to play music again, meet old friends and reminisce. And this will also be an awesome occasion where everyone will experience how the past meets the present, and the future, too.
