Yes, it’s been a long cold winter and scores of golf enthusiasts are more eager than ever to get outdoors and play the game they love this season.
This is why a record number of golf fanatics are expected to attend this year’s Golf & Travel Show, which is being held from February 23 – 25, 2018, at the International Centre (6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, ON).
The show is popular as it’s a prime opportunity for golfers of all ages to get the scoop on new equipment and technology, golf course and travel options, as well as informative demonstrations and online lessons.
However this year’s show will prove to be extra-special as there is a new initiative teeing-off that will undoubtedly be a hole-in-one for lovers of the sport.
Called Flip-The-Chip Fore The Cure, this is a first-of-its-kind pilot program being launched at this year’s show in support of The Princess Margaret. The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. Their clinicians and cancer researchers are leading the way in patient care and new innovative discoveries.
Flip-The-Chip Fore The Cure is a limited edition promotion. All participants have to do is lift a ball marker on the cover and scratch for a chance to win a golf vacation package to Prince Edward Island (PEI), which includes 3 nights at the Rodd Charlottetown and 3 rounds of golf at world-renowned courses: The Links at Crowbrush Cove; Brudenell River Golf Course; and Dundarave Golf Course. Additional prizes up for grabs include 100 free rounds of golf to 5 of Ontario’s premier courses.
While Flip-The-Chip Fore The Cure is new to the Golf & Travel Show, the pilot program will be rolled out into the summer, with the goal of making it a permanent fundraiser beyond 2018.
The brainchild behind this campaign is Joe Korman, a popular golf entrepreneur and founder & owner of TTG Media. Korman was recently diagnosed with Throat Cancer (Stage 3), and as a cancer survivor he is now setting out to make a difference in recognizing and supporting the men, women and children who have been touched by cancer.
“The real goal is simple: to make a positive impact for others through the game of golf,” says Korman. “This new initiative will directly support The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation while at the same time having a profound impact on cancer patients and survivors and their loved ones.”
Jared Drewnowsky, who is the Director of Special Events for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, is excited about this new project that will help raise funds crucial to supporting world leading cancer research.
“We are very excited that Joe and TTG Media will be fundraising for The PMCF,” says Drewnowsky. “We are now working together on this exciting golf-based program that will become an annual fundraiser for years to come.”
Lead organizers with the Golf & Travel Show are also proud to be playing their part in unveiling this one-of-a-kind-initiative.
Lars Melander, the manager of the show and a cancer survivor himself, says he was sold right away when first introduced to Flip-The-Chip Fore The Cure.
“Cancer affects the lives of so many people and it’s a great feeling to launch this very unique and special campaign at our annual three-day show,” says Melander. “This campaign is about helping others, helping save lives, and making a positive difference for others who have been diagnosed with cancer. Together we will help find a cure.”
